Just bought TOTA last month, and I just started playing it yesterday. Since it’s an older game, there don’t seem to be any paperback strategy guides left at the game stores. And it’s a used game so no case or instruction guide, just the CD…
…just a little background as far as why I’m asking such beginner questions(I’m a Final fantasy player & this is my first game of the Tales series) I currently have Luke and Tear and we’re walking toward Engave:
1. How do I switch party members? Am I not able to do it this early in the game?
2. As I get more than one arte(I think Luke has two) how do I switch and/or combine them? I go to the menu screen for the artes and I’m all confused between what’s on the left or right and why it matters. And is there a limit on Arte use within battle? I use fang blade once and it seems I can’t use it again even after much button mashing. I imagine it has to do w/ the meter under Luke’s HP…what is it, and does it fill up on it’s own or do you need to do something?
Again, I know these are beginner questions to most, but I’m not heavily into a variety of rpgs, just FF. I’m a passive “gamer” and to be honest I was tired of waiting for FF-13 to come out(it’s 2008 and they still can’t confirmed a US release date) so I just chose this game to tide me over until then. There’s usually an in-game tutorial that covers these things, right? Master Van tutorial was kinda basic, no real information.
Just wanted to get a feel for playing the game, without any guide all my battles are boring hack-and-slashing. And…I’m done rambling.
And yes, I’m reading the posts on gamefaqs.com, but as you know it’s text-heavy and frustrating if you have just specific questions.
