(PRWEB) June 24, 2007 — Every summer, at the Guards Polo Club in Windsor, UK, members of the European and Middle Eastern royal families, international dignitaries, captains of industry, political leaders, business leaders and world famous celebrities gather to mingle and advance the noble cause of charity.
“After eleven years, we are just as thrilled today as we were the first day we helped put a smile on the face of a small child in Saudi Arabia, Syria, Lebanon, Pakistan and England” said Basil Al Ghalayini, Chairman of BMG Foundation during the private luncheon. He then described BMG Foundations new strategy for the next decade. “Our goal is to evolve our past successes in new and even more effective ways. Along with helping the needy, we plan to initiate sustainable and self-generating community programs, such as microfinance for young entrepreneurs, to help the needy help themselves.”
The next decade will also feature a widening of BMG Foundation horizons with the inception of Al Farabi Concerto, a series of concerts by Arab contemporary classical composers performed by some of the worlds most acclaimed orchestras, conductors and soloists. A brilliant preview concert of the Al Farabi series, featuring four Arab composers, took place the night before the GCC Polo Cup in Plaisterers Hall in central London.
“Bringing contemporary classical music under the BMG Foundation umbrella will help us reach a more extensive circle of participants, supporters and recipients and further enhance the culture of our collective communities,” said Mr. Al Ghalayini.
This years GCC Polo Cup was unique in that it brought together all three of BMG Foundations initiatives: Al Farabi Concerto, the GCC Polo Cup and Art Alive, which aims to enhance the art of Arab communities and raise awareness of Arab artists in international circles. During Wednesdays event, the East/West inspired paintings by Lebanese artist Chukrallah Fattouh were auctioned to raise additional funds for charity.
Another goal for the next decade is to initiate Polo Federations in different GCC countries adding this honored equestrian sport to the list of other equestrian sports that are very much active in the GCC region. Star GCC players this year were Amr Zedan, 15-year-old Salman Alhamrani, both from Saudi Arabia, and Said Bin Drai from Dubai.
Sponsors for this years event were Istithmar, Arab Bank Group, Dubai Wellness Center, Alhamrani Group of Companies, Zedan Group, Beltone Financial, Impact Proxmity, TBWARAAD, Crystal Arc and Al Joman for Environmental Care.
UK Guests included reknowed Fashion Designer Oswald Boateng accompanied by his beautiful wife Gyunel , Sane Charitys founder and Chief Executive Marjorie Wallace, and Chris Brosnan standing in for his father Pierce Brosnan, who was hard at work at Pinewood Studios rehearsing for his upcoming role in Universal Studios movie feature of the West End smash Mamma Mia - in which he co-stars with Academy Awards® winner Meryl Streep.
