The Bronx: keeping the Afro-Cuban dance beat alive! Grupo Niche & The Jimmy Bosch Orchestra help to keep the music real at Lehman Center for the Performing Arts
Grupo Niche is still very much under the leadership of its founder, the songwriter and vocalist Jairo Varela, who first envisioned his “dream band” over 25 years ago. Their aggressive, typically Cuban rhythms and tasteful singing have earned them ten gold and five platinum records. On the night of January 13th, hundreds of salsa fans from around the tri-state area fully expected them to whip out their signature piece, Cali Pachanguero, as well as their more recent endeavors, Control Absoluto and Alive. And boy, did they ever deliver the goods! In a fantastic array of showmanship, the Colombians thrilled their New York audience as never before.
