Broadway’s Jenkins Teams With Composer Rosen for CD, “Nikki Giovanni Songs” (Playbill via Yahoo! News)

Oasis Project Live at Jimmy Mak’s
Pere Soto and I had our Oasis CD release party last weekend and I must say that I’m so relieved that it’s over with. We did five radio show and a newspaper interview to promote the event, as well as the usual email blitz and web promotions. My wife and sister in-law got the food together, Dusty from the record label took care of the chairs and wine, and I picked up the cake from the cake lady. It turned out to be standing room only and we didn’t even loose any money, which I was fully expecting. I think that Pere and I ended up making $12 each when all was said and done, not including the eight CDs that we sold.Last night we played set at a club in town called Jimmy Mak’s. Here are some MP3s from that gig that I recorded on my Zoom H4 digital recorder:Latin SufferingArmonicaGoodbyeJust a Minor BluesSailingSheilaOasisHere are a few tunes from the actual CD release party. The sound quality of these aren’t as good because of the live room and :Bossando

CD release Q&A: Andrea Ball
The poster says it all. Confessional, mood-driven songwriters are in no short supply, but one occasionally comes along that reminds you why it?s good to be on the receiving end of said confessions, and that brings us to Andrea Ball.

I mean the dude’s first CD in 1998 “They Never Saw Me Coming” is a straight R&B classic. Top notch production, real smooth, classy and really musical tunes, great features, I thought, “man this dude’s hands is gold, everything he touched will be brighted with real talent. Then I heard his second unreleased album “The 2nd Coming” and was like “it’s an okay album, not as good as the first, he just needs to spend a little more time in it. And then he releases his second official album and third in a row, “Listen”. That’s second hand production. I’d be ashamed to launch such a low quality work compared to his first. Now I had hope on his recent work, “Paradise” that will be launched now. I downloaded it and listened, it’s as bad ans “Listen”… oh man, no hate on the dude, I’m a great fan, but what the hell is wrong with him? If you don’t have enough cash to launch some decent stuff, take your time making it and when you drop it’ll be the bomb. Thoughts?
