About GEMINI WOLF
Dreamy vocals, laptop bleeps, thunderous drums, dubby bass, strings, and guitars all blend together in the world of Gemini Wolf. The band was founded in 2005 as a noise/folktronica duo with Pandar and Mikronesia. Their unique blend of glitchy beats, psychedelic guitars, and ethereal vocals pleased crowds throughout the land. Gemini Wolf caught the ear of the Atlanta based label Nophi Records, and their tune ?Owl Song? was included on an acclaimed vocal + electronics compilation ?Nophi Presents - Compilation iii?.
In 2006 the band has grown to include some fine musicians. Len Magen joined Gemini Wolf on electric bass; then Gary Dann on drums. Rounding out the lush sounds are Alison Rigby on violin and Richie Frangiosa on cello. In October 2006, they began recording their debut album ?Josiah?.
Another soulful full band version of “Owl Song” was chosen as the lead off song on the new Philly Car Share SoundClash CD Vol 1. It\’s an exciting compilation of eccelectic Philly bands with tracks hand chosen by Josh Wink and King Britt. Also on the CD are Gildon Works and a Josh Wink / Trent Reznor track.
Gemini Wolf\’s debut album, Josiah was released in May 2007. The album goes from trippy folk to electro-funk to philly soul to dark rock to glitch pop and back again over nine tracks that span the sonic and emotional landscape. The album has just hit the streets and is looking for a label home. The City Paper has declared “… Josiah, has the makings of an epic …” (5/17/2007). Pick up a copy today.
