I have an old Mac that is running OS 9.1. (It is not capable of running OS X.) I’m going to buy a new Mac when OS X.5 (”Leopard”) is released in a few months. But I would like to buy an iPod now. The problem is that the newer releases of iTunes require OS X. An older version of iTunes will run on my Mac … but I think when it goes online, it tells me that I must upgrade. Does it need to go online to work. I just want to put some MP3s and music from CD on it. I don’t need to download from the iTunes store. Or maybe there is a way to load music onto without iTunes at all?
